Dope Joins Machines vs. Monsters Tour

Dope is teaming up with the legendary Static-X for the Machines vs. Monsters Tour 2025! After all the chaos this year, this is exactly what I need. If they announce a date for Atlanta, you better believe I’m packing my bags and heading out. I covered the Atlanta stop on the Machine Killer Tour, and it was absolutely epic. I know this one will be just as unforgettable!

Remembering: Wayne Static

remembering wayne static

On November 1, 2014, Wayne Static left us far too soon at the age of 48. His legacy and music continue to resonate long after his passing. Today, we remember Wayne and his incredible career.

Wayne was never one to follow trends; instead, he defined his own unique style that set the bar for others. His work with Static-X spanned six studio albums, producing iconic hits like “Cold,” “I’m With Stupid,” and “Push It.” Wayne’s final recordings with Static-X were released posthumously in Project Regeneration Vol. I and II. His solo outing, Pighammer, further cemented his status as the King of Evil Disco.

Did Wayne ever believe he’d become such an icon? The thought probably never crossed his mind. He dedicated himself to his craft and his fans, and it was evident in his electrifying performances and the passion he infused into his music. Wayne was one of a kind: there was never anyone like him before, and there never will be again. That his legacy endures attests to his everlasting impact on the industry, and on his grateful fans.

We loved you, Wayne, and we still do. You’ve never been forgotten. Thank you for the music, thank you for the memories, and most of all, thank you for taking us along on your journey.

Thank you.

Evil Disco The Movie Trailer Screencaps

Hello hello, and welcome to another update. Sorry for being MIA, I wasn’t feeling well the past few days. Today we’re jumping right into it with updates to EDF Photo (got to remind you about Evil Disco The Movie after all!).

Evil Disco The Movie

  • 23 photos have been added to the Evil Disco gallery on EDF Photo. Edsel isn’t shown too much in this trailer, but hey … this is a momentous movie, and he’s in it. We’re covering it, for sure.
  • Is this the first time you’ve heard about the movie Evil Disco? Let’s give you a quick recap of what we know. Evil Disco is billed as a chronicle of the rise, fall and regeneration of metal legends Static-X. Not only will we hear from the band in their own words, but a veritable who’s who of metal superstars. The trailer features Dino from Fear Factory, Lajon Witherspoon of Sevendust, Dave Navarro, and of course… Edsel Dope. That’s enough star power to make any metal fan excited to see this movie, in my opinion. There’s no release date as of yet, but we’re keeping our eyes peeled here.
  • I’ve provided the link above so you can go right to Static-X ‘s official Youtube channel to check out the trailer for yourself. Be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already so you never miss a video from the band!
  • Interested in my thoughts on this movie? I’ve given my initial reaction to the trailer right here. I’m still really excited to see this movie. As a longtime Static-X fan, I’ve always hoped there would one day be a documentary where they get to tell their story themselves. Edsel featuring in the movie is just a bonus!

What do YOU think? Are you excited for the movie Evil Disco? Will you be seeing it when it comes out?

Dope on tour HYPE: Celebrate the Best!

Dope is on tour starting the 26th of April! That’s right, the third leg of the Machine Killer Tour carves a path through the Pacific Northwest, Canada and the Midwest! We’re super excited here at edseldopefan.org and we think this incredible tour is reason to celebrate! For those of you that aren’t familiar with the Machine Killer Tour, here’s a bit of a breakdown:

  • Static-X and Sevendust headline, Dope and Lines of Loyalty are supporting.
  • This is a North American tour, and there have been two legs of this tour so far! (See my review of the Atlanta stop here)
  • There are chances to meet Dope in various VIP packages that are on sale now! Click here for info and how to purchase.

I’ve been shouting about this tour for what seems like actual ages, and honestly? If I haven’t convinced you that you should see this show by now, I don’t know what to tell you! I think the footage I captured at the Atlanta stop speaks for itself, really. I was pretty close to the stage and captured some great stuff. Mind you, I wasn’t filming the entire time: I was kind of focused on enjoying the moment! There’s a lot of awesome creators that have filmed full length Dope sets, and if you like I’ll highlight these creators in a future post. For now, let’s take a look at what I filmed at the Tabernacle:

Edsel pretty much sounds identical to the record when you see him live. It’s pretty wild! I did buy a VIP package as well and that was also freaking rad. If you can swing it, and they’re available at the show you want to attend, definitely consider it! Edsel is very sweet and gracious.

Curious? See for yourself!

What do you say? Have I intrigued you? Looking to purchase your own tickets to the Machine Killer Tour? Everyone should see Dope on tour at least once. Click here for how to purchase your tickets! I’m seriously so excited for you if you get to go!

Edsel Dope fan (listings) and More: Fanlisting Portal Opens!

As promised, I’ve got something fun for you today. Today marks the grand opening of the edseldopefan.org Fanlisting Portal! You might recall that awhile back I built the Edsel Dope and Dope fanlistings. (Imagine edseldopefan.org not having a place that you can declare that you are an Edsel Dope fan…) At the time, I launched them with a post right here. Well, I knew I was also applying for the Static-X and Wayne Static fanlistings. Ended up getting both, and since then I’ve completed our little fanlisting network. I kept quiet about fanlistings for a bit, in an effort to launch all four together (as I should have done in the first place, really). So now all four are officially launching today! Our fanlistings are connected to The Fanlistings Network, which is a directory for fanlistings.

Fanlistings? What are fanlistings?

What is a fanlisting, you ask? Here’s the description by The Fanlistings Network website: A fanlisting is simply an online listing of fans of a subject, such as a TV show, actor, or musician, that is created by an individual and open for fans from around the world to join. There are no costs, and the only requirements to join a fanlisting are your name and country. Fanlistings do not have to be large sites (although some are) – they are just a place where you can have your name listed along with other fans of the same subject. – The Fanlistings Network

So basically, a fanlisting is just a way for you to support a subject! There’s a big disclaimer about fanlistings that is worth mentioning, however: a fanlisting does not denote official recognition by a subject. No connection to any of the subjects of these fanlistings is claimed or implied. edseldopefan.org’s fanlistings are made by a fan, for fans!

Let’s go over the sites in the edseldopefan.org Fanlisting Portal:

No Regrets: the Edsel Dope fanlisting

Keep Disco Evil: the Wayne Static fanlisting

Wayne’s fanlisting also serves as a mini tribute site!

I hope you enjoy our network of fanlistings, and I’d appreciate you joining if you’re a fan!

Edsel Dope in Evil Disco movie – CONFIRMED!

Edsel Dope is confirmed to be in the upcoming Static-X movie “Evil Disco”! The trailer for the film was released today, which is the 25 year anniversary of the band’s iconic classic “Wisconsin Death Trip”. Edsel is shown in the trailer as one of the individuals giving commentary. No surprise there – Edsel has worked with Static-X as their producer and creative director for years.  He’s also been on the record many times stating that Wayne Static was a long time friend.

My thoughts on the trailer:

I saw the notification on my phone and when I tell you I almost screamed in public… wow. What a huge piece of news for our Saturday!

I’ve seen a few documentaries about Static-X and Wayne in particular (100% of them being on Youtube). They leave me a bit conflicted, I’m not gonna lie. On one hand, I love that people are still interested in telling the story of Static-X. While yes, most people know me for being an eternal Dope hype woman, Static-X is a band that means just as much to me. On the other… I believe much of the reporting on the band (and Wayne) is opinion and not fact. As a fan of Static-X, I’ve always wanted to hear their story in their own words. It seems like we’ll get that, and then some. Very intriguing, that’s for sure.

Along with Edsel, it looks like we’ll also be hearing from Dave Navarro, Dino from Fear Factory, Lajon Witherspoon of Sevendust, and of course Ken, Tony and Koichi from Static-X. This movie looks like it is absolutely packed with superstars.

Would you like to see the trailer? Click here and you’ll be brought right to it. As always, if you aren’t subbed to Static-X already: like, subscribe and hit the notification bell so you never miss a video.

Static-X Project Regeneration Vol 2 OUT NOW!

Static-X Project Regeneration Vol 2 has been released! That’s right, the day we’ve been waiting for is FINALLY here! We don’t normally cover Static-X here but I would be remiss if I didn’t at least say something about this release. And as we all know, Edsel has long worked with Static-X as their creative director and has helmed many of their videos!

static-x project regeneration vol 2

I’m not joking, they way I jumped up when I got the notification that the album was available! I’ve listened to every song track by track several times. What’s my verdict?

EDF.org’s Review: Static-X Project Regeneration Vol 2

It’s… amazing.

Like a lot of fans, I listened to the album teaser on repeat. I can safely say the album itself 100% lived up to the teaser. In the past I’ve listened to albums where there’s at least one or two songs that are obviously filler. (Sometimes more) Not only is there absolutely no filler on Project Regeneration Vol 2, every song totally rocks. It’s not often that I say this, and I don’t say it lightly: there is not one bad song on this album. Standouts for me are Black Star, Kamikaze, Take Control, and Disco Otsego. When I got to From Heaven… I might have been ugly crying, Kim Kardashian style. (But since there’s no picture to prove it, might as well have not happened!)

Project Regeneration Vol 2 sees Ulrich Wild return to mix and master, along with Tony, Ken, and Koichi. As a result, we have a cohesive and satisfying record that fits perfectly in the band’s discography. Project Regeneration Vol 2 pays tribute to Wayne’s memory while further keeping Evil Disco alive and well!

Static-X Project Regeneration Vol 2 is available for purchase from Static-X’s official website. You can also stream it on Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and Youtube Music!

Otsego Placebo, directed by Edsel Dope, is LIVE!

Static-X has just dropped the video for “Otsego Placebo”, directed by Edsel Dope, and it is phenomenal. Somehow, Edsel has managed to capture what being at a Static-X show is like. It’s a kind of energy that just electrifies you. This video did not disappoint, that’s for sure. Have you seen it yet?

otsego placebo

In the video, you can see Edsel’s work as creative director for the band. I find a lot of people don’t know what being a creative director is: we hear the term frequently, but no one ever explains what the job entails. In its most basic sense, a creative director is responsible for creating and delivering a stylistic vision for their client. They are also responsible for media outreach and executing a cohesive brand strategy. I of course cannot comment on Edsel’s exact day to day as creative director for Static-X, but the aesthetics for stage shows would definitely be under the umbrella of his job.

I’ve taken a few choice caps that I think perfectly show off the energy and vibe of a Static-X live performance. And please watch the video for Otsego Placebo HERE on Static-X’s Youtube channel! If you have not already, give the video a big thumbs up and subscribe with notifications turned on. You don’t want to miss this and other videos from the band!
